The Lincoln Highway is a novel by Amor Towles and it's a beautifully written and highly entertaining novel set in the 1950s that follows the adventures of four young men as they travel across the United States in search of a fresh start. Emmett and Billy are trying to find their mother who left them when they were young, while Duchess and Woolly are on the hunt for a stash of cash. Their journey is filled with train hopping, car stealing, and all sorts of trouble, both good and bad. One of the standout features of The Lincoln Highway is the vivid and immersive writing of Amor Towles, who does an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the 1950s and the sense of adventure and possibility that comes with youth. The characters are well-developed and engaging, and their pasts - whether violent or sad - add depth and complexity to the story.
